A Power Outfit

I competed in speech and debate in college. That's right, I spoke and argued publicly for scholarship money. I could go on and on about the different kinds of debate and their structures and strategies people like to use, but that would lead us into a situation where I ramble and your eyes gloss over. Kinda like right now! All that aside, it's where I made my best friends.

Back to my point! Business attire was the norm in the early days of my competitions. Slacks, blouses, blazers and chic, yet walkable, heels were my weekend wear for a good two and a half years. By the end of my final year competing, I'd given in to the dressed down trend. Rocking what I would describe as menswear-inspired business casual for women.

Anyway, regardless of whether I had suited up or not, I always had a certain outfit that made me feel powerful.

That's what this outfit is for me.

Classic. Monochromatic. Height-giving.

This black jean with black heeled booties makes me feel like my legs go on for days.

Notice I said feel. It doesn't really matter if the jeans actually make my legs look longer, all I know is I feel like a beautiful giraffe-legged model when I wear these jeans with these boots. I caught myself strutting through the office when I wore this to work last week. STRUTTING! I guess some clothes have that effect on us. Back in debate days it was gray slacks, a blue and white striped shirt, pointed black patent heels and aviator sunglasses just for the extra dose of cool. Today...today it's this.

Please tell me you have a power outfit. If you don't, what do you think it would be?
